Using Our accessibility Tool Bar

We use the ReachDeck toolbar to assist visitors with accessibility needs. To get started, select the icon on the left-hand side of this website marked with a person.

We have provided guidance below on how to use these tools and what each tool does. We have also included a short video to help.  Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about using our accessibility tools.

What do the icons on the reach deck bar mean?

ReachDeck is here to help you use this website.

We want to make sure the website can be accessed, understood, and used.

To toolbar helps you access content in a way that suits you best.

Press this button at the bottom left side the website and the toolbar will appear at the top of the page.

Hover to speak 

This will read aloud each sentence. There are play and stop buttons.

Translate

This will change words into different languages.

Picture

This will highlight a word and share a picture.

MP3

This will create a MP3 sound file, which you can download and play on your smart phone or computer.

Screen Mask

This highlights a rectangular section of the screen, so you can focus on one line at a time. It can also add a colour filter to the screen.

Text magnifier

This can help change the size of the words and read it aloud to you.

Simplify

This can help change the size of the words and read it aloud to you.

Question Mark

You can see a quick list of the features on the toolbar.

Settings

You can choose the features that suit your needs.

Using Reachdeck on a Mobile Phone

You can choose the features that suit your needs.

The full Connect website, including the Sensory Processing Hub and all downloadable resources can be translated.

In the bottom left-hand corner of the screen, there is a red icon with a white person inside it, press this button.

If you are using a mobile phone, a black band with icons will open at the bottom of the screen. If you click on the cog or ‘settings’ icon, a drop-down menu will appear. Select the desired language from the menu and press the blue ‘save’ button. The screen will go back to the home page, which will be translated into that language. 

If you would like the text to be read aloud, press the button on the left-hand side of the band at the bottom of the screen which has a hand icon. Once you have pressed this icon, press on the text you would like to be read aloud.
