What happens when I turn 18?

Once your child reaches the age of 18, our paediatric dietetics service can refer onto the adult dietetic service.

Hear from the families we work with

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the paediatric dietetic service, however they have been a great source of support and guidance for my daughter (aged 9), and us as parents. Our daughter has a suspected diagnosis of ARFID and we have felt lost with how to tackle this. Our daughter's first appointment was extremely helpful and made her feel reassured that she was not alone in what she experiences. We have been given advice on practical steps to take which have since proved pivotal in first steps to overcoming the disorder.

Parents of a young person

The dietitians have been amazing with my son, they helped and reassured us and monitored us closely until he gained enough weight that they were happy to put him on request and review. They’ve been amazing with everything every step of the way. Be assured that the dietitian team will do everything possible to ease your worries & also care for your child & supply anything that is needed. Thank you so much for everything!

“ My child wanted me to say thank you (as I do too) for being such an inspiration to her - and for listening to her and supporting her as an individual throughout this journey. ”

“ We have seen my son's dietitian for about 2 and a half years now and they have always been amazing, he struggled with eating and other issues and she was always there to answer any questions we had and was such a big help! She's so lovely and easy to talk to and has been a big part of my son overcoming so many challenges we can't thank her enough. ”
