Crisis assessment and intervention

Our 24/7 service offers young people and families assessment and brief intervention in times of mental health crisis.

Our 24/7 service offers young people and families assessment and brief intervention in times of mental health crisis.

We will initially talk to you and your family over the phone to find out more about your situation and ensure that you are safe.

Afterwards we will complete an assessment in a place that you and your family feel comfortable in (usually at home).

We also offer up to 72 hours of intervention following a crisis assessment to both young people and families to help identify coping strategies and any further input that might be needed going forwards.

What further support might look like:

Crisis intervention following an admission to an Emergency Department

If a young person attends the Emergency Department (ED) at Hull Royal Infirmary, the Mental Health Liaison Service based at the hospital will carry out a crisis assessment. Read more about this here:

If further crisis support is needed, they will contact the CAMHS Crisis Service whose role it is to provide further input. This input will either be in the hospital or at home if the young person has been discharged.

The service also works closely with other CAMHS Crisis teams that support young people living in Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire who attend Scunthorpe General Hospital and Scarborough Hospital to ensure that follow-up support is offered.
