Introduction

Welcome to our East Riding Health Visiting and School Nursing Service

Our East Riding 0-19, Integrated Specialist Public Health Nursing Service comprises of health visitors, school nurses, health and development practitioners and administrators, working together to deliver the healthy child programme.

What we do

The Integrated Specialist Public Health Nursing Service (ISPHNS) 0-19 delivers the Healthy Child Programme (HCP) ‘Pregnancy and the first five years of life’ and ‘From 5-19 years old’

Our service provides specialist health support, which starts at the point of pregnancy and continues throughout the child’s life until they reach the age of 19 or up to the age of 25 for people with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

The service is delivered by six professional teams across the East Riding of Yorkshire. These teams are comprised of specialist community public nurses (health visitors and school nurses), family nurse practitioners, breastfeeding specialists, community public health nurses, health and development practitioners, healthcare support workers and administration staff.

Our specialist public health nurses work closely with other services and settings, including community midwives, GPs, children’s centres, early years’ settings, schools, and higher education settings. We also work closely with other agencies for children with complex health needs or special educational needs and disabilities to ensure they get the services and care they need.

“ We feel so lucky to have been assigned our babies health visitor. She is kind, compassionate, knowledgeable and accommodating. She made us feel at ease and our baby feel at ease. Provided us
with lots of advice and reassurance and couldn't ask for anything more from her. ”

“ Health Visitor has been brilliant, provided knowledge, advice and showed me and my little one such great care. I felt I could speak freely without judgement, ask all my questions without feeling silly and I feel very supported in the care I’ve received. ”

“ Thankyou for listening to me and giving advice it helped a lot - thank you note to the school nurse from a pupil. ”

“ Every little trouble – she’s been there with us. She’s seen me though my flat with mould, living with my dad, being in temporary accommodation and now at this flat. I can’t believe it’s been nearly 3 years. I’ll be frank, it’s quite emotional that she’s leaving us. ”
