Frequently Asked Questions

Can I access the Hull CWP service if I live in the East Riding?

Hull CWPs can work with any child or family that is registered with a Hull GP, even if they live in the East Riding.

If my child does not go to school can I still access the Hull CWP service?

CWPs are a community-based service. We will work with any child or family that is appropriate for the support we offer, regardless of whether they attend school, college, are home schooled, or are NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training).

Where will my appointments be?

We work from health centres and family hubs across the city. Wherever possible we will try to ensure that appointments are in a convenient location for you to reach.

How long will I get support for?

1:1 treatment usually lasts between 6-12 sessions, and these are offered on a weekly basis. Our parent-led groups last for 6 sessions over 7 weeks.

What does a typical session look like and what do I need to bring?

A typical session will involve talking to a practitioner about how you are feeling. We will share some skills to support you and a task to help you practise between sessions. Bring with you a pen, and any home tasks you have completed from the previous session. You can choose to have a parent/carer with you if you like. If a parent/carer brings you to your session but you don’t want them in the session, your practitioner will ask them to sit outside.

What happens when my support ends?

At the end of the sessions, we will complete a ‘staying well plan’ with you. This is a summary of knowledge and skills to help you in the future. If further needs are identified, these will be discussed, and you will be signposted for further support.
