Contact Point

Telephone referrals can be made via:

01482 303688

Telephone referrals can be made by parents and carers of children and young people, aged up to 18 years and from young people if they are aged 16 years or above.

What happens after a referral?

Initially we will contact you by phone, allowing us to gather information and share what your journey may look like including the next steps.

If it is determined that your needs can be met by another service outside of CAMHS, we will signpost you to the appropriate service.

If we need more information about your current circumstances, you will be asked to attend a CORE CAMHS initial assessment.

The initial assessment offers an appointment to discuss your current concerns with a clinician. The clinician will identify your treatment needs, which will be discussed with the Multi Disciplinary Team to establish the next steps for you and your family.

Some referrals may come direct from other children's services within the Trust.

Choice Appointments

Core CAMHS offer a choice in appointments to young people and families. The choice of face-to-face, virtual or telephone appointments can be arranged, and the team has a variety of settings that face-to-face appointments can be considered, including a dedicated team base, other local health settings, educational settings or the family home.

All venues and formats will be considered however sometimes due to the nature of the work we conduct, some formats or venues may not be appropriate. This will be explained fully when options are considered as due to possible risks or other complicating individual factors, this may limit the ways in which we can safely work.
