How to access the service

If your CAMHS worker feels you would benefit from an in-patient admission, they would discuss this with the Community Psychiatrist and the Inpatient Team to agree the next steps.

------------------

For CAMHS professionals please follow the NHS England Tier 4 operating Handbook Protocol.

There are times that some young people would require an inpatient admission, this is usually because it has become difficult for us to keep you safe at home or you may need more intensive support than is available in the community.

Before a referral is made your Community Workers will talk to you, your family, and the Inpatient Team to agree how best we can help you. This will all be described in, what we call, a Form One. A Form One pulls together a lot of information about you and will include information from all services supporting you. As part of the Form One you and your family will have the opportunity to say what you want and to tell us anything you think is important for us to know.

Following this we may offer to come and meet you to find out more information to help us better help you. Usually, this meeting would be with two of the Inspire team.

There are times when this isn’t possible, this maybe because there is an urgent need for you to be admitted, at these times we will do this at Inspire as part of the admission. Once we have met with you we will share what you told us with the rest of the team at Inspire and we will agree if we feel that we would be able to help.

There are times when we may help the Community Teams to think about different ways to help you at home because we know that staying away from home is a big step and we want to make sure it is for the right reasons.

“ Staff make time for you to talk about your feelings and to do activities as a distraction and try and make the environment as nice as can be while being in hospital and treat you with respect. ”
