Bedrooms

Orion provides mixed gender accommodation for young people, however, there is a female corridor and a male corridor for bed spaces. This means the corridor to your bedroom will only be used by young people of the same gender. Each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom. Please speak to staff if you have any queries regarding gender identity.

You will have access to a fob, which will allow you to enter your assigned corridor, and your bed space only. There will be a room fob agreement for you to sign to ensure your fob stays safe. Young people are not to go into other young people’s bedrooms. Occasionally, it may be necessary for you to move beds during your stay at Orion. If this happens while you are on leave, the team will move your belongings and make sure they are stored safely.

Communal Lounge and Dining area

Our communal areas are open to all young people. These include the Games Room, Secure Garden, Community Lounge, Dining area and Chill Out Room. There will be spaces where everyone can socialise and participate in their therapeutic timetables.

There are also lots of window seats for those who want to be with everyone but are not quite ready to join in. We also have a Gender Specific Lounge (often called the GSL) which allows a safe and separate place for either gender to attend, however we must be mindful that if it is in use then we will allow that person their privacy.
