We’re here to help you feel your best, in school and in life. The Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) work in schools and colleges across Hull and East Riding to support young people with maintaining positive mental health and emotional wellbeing.
You might see us around school, running workshops, meeting with students one-to-one, or helping staff understand how to support mental health. We’re part of the wider team that helps make sure young people get the support they need early on—before things feel too big or overwhelming.
Whether you’re feeling stressed, low, anxious, or just not quite yourself, we’re here to listen and help. We also do lots of work to help everyone understand how to look after their mental health, so even if you’re not struggling, we’re here to keep things positive.
We work with you, your parents or carers, and your teachers to make sure you feel supported, understood, and never alone.
The animation below was created with young people to tell you about the support we offer in schools.
Referrals to the MHST can be made in the following ways:
Within the School Setting:
All referrals should be made directly to the Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) or Senior Mental Health Practitioner based in your school. They will assess the need and determine the appropriate level of support.
Direct to the MHST Coordination Team:
If preferred, referrals can also be made by contacting the MHST Coordination Team directly on 01482 205205. Please ensure referrals include clear, high-quality information about the young person’s needs to help us determine the appropriate treatment approach and provide timely, effective support. This should include, reasons for referral, impact, risk and family situation.
Alternatively please complete the Hull & East Riding MHST Referral Form and email it to (Hull) hnf-tr.hullmhst@nhs.net or (East Riding) hnf-tr.eymhst@nhs.net
